Halloween at my house #noscarybusiness

My kids have always hated scary, my youngest who’s 15 still isn’t very fond of suspenseful. So while we decorate for Halloween, it is cheery and fun, not creepy or spooky. My oldest ( 18)  still won’t let me turn on the music until he leaves ( you know that creepy sounding organ music with mwahaha laughter overlaying it)

So our Halloween costumes reflect passions, books and/or movies and are almost always homemade, sometimes with a little help.

I’ve been sewing for a long time, but since my boys were born it’s been mainly costumes and pyjamas. So these beads make me think of Halloween and except for Deadhead ( it was a BTOM {bead of the month} and therefore a limited edition)  they are all still available at Ohm Beads πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

From left to right back row

Sock monkey AHS006

Sewing machine WHB110

Books AHH001

The Enforcer AAS010

Knight AHS002

Non Violence AAP028 ( on the to be retired list later this Fall)

Here are some costume pics that go with the beads above

My monkey costume was a bit sad 🀣and G went as The NHL lock out ( Canadians will understand that one) in the bottom right. The army men are self explanatory. A bead that looks like the toy army manwould be cute but my boots work great πŸ€”

A couple of Chained AAE116 with The Enforcer would be a great match for the Lock Out costume.

Here’s my favourite moose and knight from a few years back ( got to love using a proper camera back in the day πŸ™ˆ)

This moose ❀️ AAA 084

How about that little pirate!!!!     Ahoy or Arrr ( depends on site) AAH013

Mummy workshop at our house   Mummy AAR401

G was Darth Vader and I think my Star Bijou order will be perfect ( but it might have to wait for next year’s Halloween)

The top left bead is the December BOTM Stardust ( AAY035 ) which was available for pre-order last week and there will be some available at Ohm HQ on December 1 if you can’t find any at retailers between now and then. The same goes for the LE Nightsky glass  ( AMV049)  which is also available December 1 if you can’t find it at a retailer now to preorder. The UFO ( AAX014) is current and should be in stock everywhere. The final pic is Lucky Stars ( AAY036) exclusive to Star Bijou which I also ordered but in the straight silver version.

My oldest was obsessed with Percy Jackson ( book series) for a while so this Rocking Pegasus WHB088 would be awesome but the books charm works too. If Kit’s dream of mythological creatures ever comes true, they will be perfect!

B is an Owl AAA013 and G was a werewolf WHB079 ( the only time anyone was a monster)

A pilot needs a plane Biplane WHB131 and a fisherman has a pet frog? This Pond Frog is a Collector’s Item AHV002 and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it, maybe it’s time for a new frog? Sometimes you have to kiss a few before you find Prince Charming. Hint, hint.

Pinned Up AHKS003 for the year G went at a washing machine

Mr Gnome  AHS014 for the year B was a smurf, a Jawa and a squire 🀣🀣🀣

Sock Monkey AHS006 and Striped Suit AMR102 ( a collectors item) when B was monkey business

Make out CE013 ( blue camo glass) and Non Violence AAP028 when G was a civil war soldier

Aunt Gnome AAX011 for whenever I was dressed up

I love looking at these Halloween pics from years gone by ❀️

Our street looks like this

and with less than a week to go until the big night, I’m not confident we’ll see much trick or treat action.

Disclosure: for this blog I may receive some items as promotional samples.

I need a place to put some of the words that crowd my brain. I think that by sorting and organizing them, I will tame them. They can wield power outside of me. I am trying to write more often, to make it a habit, like flossing. September is full of new beginnings
